"The Slogans & Warcries of Scotland of Old"

by Andrew Pearson

Author, Andrew Pearson

Andrew Pearson was born at Stamperland to the south of Glasgow, Scotland in 1939. After the Second World War ended he emigrated with his parents to Australia. There, he soon came to realize that - in common with his Scots compatriots, expected to populate the British Commonwealth - he had been 'educated for export', possessing little awareness of the history and culture of his native land, the consequent void the easier to be filled as appropriate in the new country.

Returning by choice to Scotland several years later, he set-to remedying this deficiency, an adventure continuing to the present day which has taken him to all corners of the Scottish realm to visit, in depth, sites of historical and cultural interest. A prime study has been the mechanics by which the Scottish clans and extended families of yore functioned, in particular the evolution and influence within such bodies of 'designated houses' regarding which he has canvassed widely within academia for compilation of a detailed computer database register.

Immediately upon return from Australia he lived for a short period in Fort William, attending school there. He has since resided in Greenock, Inverclyde, by the River Clyde.
